Eventing superstar Caroline Powell has soared into the lead in the Superflex CIC*** with Flying Finish after the first day of dressage on Thursday, August 11th at the NAF Five Star International Hartpury Horse Trials.
New Zealand’s Caroline, a previous Burghley winner and Olympic medallist, produced an excellent test to gain a score of 41.6 ahead of Ibby Macpherson and Ballingowan Diamond on 42.5. Sitting in third spot ahead of tomorrow’s competitors completing their dressage is Bella Innes Kerr and Carolyn with a score of 43.
Tom Carlile has taken the lead on 41.9 in the Magic CCI** aboard Opium de Boisy followed by Alice Sandberg and Cecilio with 44.9. Finishing off the top three at the end of day one is Sarah Bullimore and Upper Class on 44.9.
In the Recover CCI* Emily Llewellyn on Exclusive will go into the second day of dressage in the lead with a score of 42. Helen Wilson on Fine Fleur sits in second with 45.3 and hot on her heels are Francis Whittington on Excellent R with a score of 45.8.
On Friday, August 12th the remaining riders take to the stage to complete the dressage tests before the weekend’s cross country and show jumping action gets underway on Saturday.
