Professional footballer, Tanya Oxtoby returned to Ross-on-Wye on Monday, February 18th to run a football training day. It was very different to many other football camps, and the girls who attended had a lot of fun with one of the leading managers in women’s football.
The girls, aged between six and 16, came not just from Ross-on-Wye but from all over Herefordshire and many met each other for the first time. Tanya organised confidence building exercises in the morning where the girls learnt more about each other and played teambuilding games.
Split into two groups, they also organised their own dance routines to music and had a ‘dance off’.
A spokesperson for Ross Juniors said: “Tanya is a real expert in her field and great role model. No other grassroots club can offer such opportunities for their young female players to be coached and developed by Bristol City Women’s Manager.”
Once they had got to know each other, Tanya helped the girls perfect their football skills with individual and team games.
Tanya’s Bristol City team have recently drawn with Manchester City and beaten Birmingham City.
