Ross Juniors applied for a One Family grant for £5000 back in the summer. The criteria for this was to receive the most votes in the community project category, and they were up against trampoline clubs, cricket clubs and schools from all over the country.

Ross Juniors came first with over 600 votes and last Friday saw Vanstone Builders install three portable aluminium dugouts for them.

Chairman Jim Loftus commented: “It is fantastic that the whole club got behind us and that we came in first place. These dugouts will offer much needed shelter and warmth in the winter months for our younger players.

“Our teams have already started using this great new facility. Even if noughts and crosses wasn’t exactly what we had in mind...”
