Ross Juniors U8s travelled to Bartestree on Saturday, March 30th where they had a great game in glorious sunshine with great spirit.

The first half was quite an even affair with few chances for either team. A great last ditch tackle by Zak ensured Bartestree didn’t get a shot at the Ross goal early on before Jasper scored for the visitors with a wonderful solo goal.

After going on a mazy run up the left flank he cut in towards the Bartestree goal and scored from at an acute angle. Bartestree went close to equalising when an angled shot was heading for the top corner but Morgan, with a little help from the frame of the goal, managed to keep it out. The Bartestree defence did well to deny Ross any further goal scoring opportunities in the first half although Riley did hit the post direct from a corner.

The second half was more open and this seemed to suit the visitors. Alex went close early on with an angled shot that beat the home side’s keeper but just went the wrong side of the post. Ross was awarded a free kick on the edge of the Bartstree penalty area and Owen doubled their lead with a great strike.

Bartestree threatened a goal back but Euan raced out of his goal to make a clearance then made a great save from a shot just inside the area. That was about as good as it got for Bartestree as Ross finished strongly. Riley made a great run out of defence all the way into Bartestree’s area but his cross/shot found the side netting. Leighton set up a chance for Owen and he raced in and beat the Bartestree keeper with a clinical finish.

Then Ross nearly added another goal late on, as Owen set up Morgan but the Bartestree keeper made a great save to deny him.
