The Bulls are out of the relegation zone after a brilliant 2-1 victory against Alfreton Town at Edgar Street. Hereford started the game on the front foot and were immediately causing Alfreton problems. It only took seven minutes for Hereford to breach the Alfreton defence but Alfreton centre-back Martin Riley was in the right place at the right time to clear George Lloyd’s effort off the line and prevent a certain goal.

The visitors were restricted to long-shots for the majority of the match, Nathan Hotte failing to find the target with his optimistic effort on the quarter of an hour mark. Minutes later, the Bulls deservedly took the lead after continued pressure.

Mike Symons finished from close range to round off a flowing team move. Kyle Finn crossed the ball in after a one-two with Danny Greenslade on the left flank, with Symons smashing into the net after loanee Finn’s whipped low cross found the ‘Target Man’ perfectly.

The match quietened down somewhat after the opening goal for the rest of the half, Tom Owen-Evans having the next real chance of note in the 32nd minute.

After an almost eventless second half, the match came to life in the final ten minutes or so.

The visitors were threatening more and more as the game looked like it was going to reach it’s conclusion with Hereford narrow 1-0 winners, but there was much more drama to come.

The visitors had equalised in the 87th minute through Craig Hobson, but James Roberts stepped up and converted the penalty in the 91st minute, meaning the Bulls move out of the relegation zone and up to 18th position.
