Fans were eager to join Hereford FC as they celebrated a great season culminating in being presented with the Southern League South & West shield.
Jimmy Oates and Jamie Molyneux also collected their ‘Player of the Year’ and ‘Young Player of the Year’ Awards after the team had capped a fine season on Saturday with an emphatic 4-0 win over Winchester City FC in front of a bumper Edgar Street crowd.
Goals from John Mills, Jimmy Oates, Bradley Williams and Jamie Edge sealed the win for the Bulls.
Peter Beadle’s men got off to a flying start, taking the lead inside ten minutes. The hosts were dominant in possession throughout the match.
The hosts got an early lead when Symons was brought down by Jamie Ford in the area. Mills calmly slotted home the penalty.
Howard Neighbour had the visitor’s best chance on the 22nd minute, clipping a cross from Joe Briggs on to the bar in what was a huge let off for Hereford.
Half an hour in and the Bulls deservedly made it 2-0. Terrific play down the right flank by Oates created the opportunity, and his cross found Jamie Edge who fired his shot low and hard beyond Noice to grab Hereford’s second of the game.
The visitors had a sight of goal just after half time when Neighbour blasted a shot over from the edge of the box but in truth, the Bulls rearguard were very rarely troubled.
Hereford were in full control and got their third goal 61 minutes in. Oates, who was having a tremendous game at right back, delivered a bullet header from Haysham corner to send the Edgar Street crowd wild.
Mills had a glorious chance to make it 4-0 on the 75th minute, only to be denied by another fine save from Noice.
But Hereford weren’t to be denied a fourth for much longer. Bradley Williams, a replacement for Jamie Edge, delivered a fine header from a Jimmy Oates cross on the 83rd minute to seal a memorable afternoon for the hosts, and kick off the trophy presentation and promotion party in style.
