Hereford FC Bulls took on Fleetwood Town on Saturday, December 2nd, in an exciting FA Cup tie at Highbury.

Just over 1,000 Hereford fans made the 182-mile trip North to see their team hold Fleetwood to a 1-1 draw at Highbury, earning a replay in doing so and potentially a place in the third round of the FA Cup, against Premiere League, Leicester City.

The Bulls matched their opponents – who are 89 places above them in the league pyramid.

Blogger Tom Liddiard reviewed the game: “Peter Beadle’s side found themselves on the back foot almost from kick-off on Saturday. They were organised, however, and their efforts to contain the home side paid off with just twenty-three minutes on the clock; Calvin Dinsley volleying home the opener to give Hereford the lead, albeit against the run of play.

“Fleetwood’s reply was almost instant, however, and Devante Cole levelled the scores with his tenth of the campaign, just six minutes later.

“The Bulls’ best opportunity came just before half-time, when John Mills’ had his close-range effort dramatically cleared off the line by defender Ashley Eastham.

“Town went on to control the remainder of the game, but couldn’t force a winner as the Bulls edged towards the full-time whistle. Ashley Hunter came closest – rattling the post with a curling effort in the eighty-ninth minute, just before the referee blew the whistle to confirm what was a famous result for the visitors.

“With eighteen goals in six games, Hereford FC really are taking the bull by the horns in the FA Cup.”

The sides will play again in the week beginning Monday, December 11th.
