Hereford FC were keen to keep their winning streak in their recent FA Trophy Second Round match against Wealdstone, but unfortunately Wealdstone ended Hereford’s sublime 52-match record of games, and their first away defeat in 35 games. Wealdstone 1 - 0 Hereford FC.

Hereford started brightly, as Jamie Bird shot just over, but then it seemed an unlucky streak for the Bulls ensued.

First, Hereford keeper Martin Horsell was treated after being caught in the face by Daniel Fitchett, who was booked.

And then defender Dara O’Shea was controversially sent off in the 14th minute, after he brought down Wealdstone’s Matt Whichelow.

This is O’Shea’s third sending off of the season and his suspension will now increase. Following this game, he is set to miss the next five games for Hereford. Hereford are now set to appeal his dismissal.

Hereford manager Pete Beadle was not happy with the decision to send him off, and said: “It is bordering on farcical because the lad has thrown himself to the ground and probably couldn’t believe his luck when it came off.”

Wealdstone then took the lead with Ricky Wellard’s header from a corner in the 26th minute.

There was chance for another Wealdstone goal, but Martin Horsell did well to save from Dan Fitchett.

At half-time Hereford were 1-0 down and and down to only 10 men.

In the second half there was an opportunity for Hereford striker Lance Smith, but the keeper gathered. A good save by Martin Horsell also kept Hereford in the game.

In the final minutes, Hereford’s last chance, the Bulls took a corner but the keeper caught it.
