Coaches, Mark and Tony Fletcher, took their Ross Juniors U17 team to Ledbury on Sunday, September 8th and came away with an impressive five-one win.

The bulk of this team are in the last year of junior football, some of the lads having played together for ten years.

New face Harry Ratcliffe, formerly of the Swifts, and Max Jennings controlled the middle of the park well, with Jonno Wright and Alfie Robertson providing good cover in the centre of defence.

Four new or returning players worked well together down the right hand side with Alex Bailey’ persistence and the pace of Nai Morgan being later substituted by the impressive Sam Thorne and Ollie Breener, fresh from last season’s U15 side.

The second half was largely one way traffic with Ross, sponsored by Total Living Care, playing down the hill and growing in confidence.  Ben Fletcher worked well up and down the left wing providing good service to the midfield.  Ross should have more than five, as some chances were wasted or defended; Fin Fletcher brought a fine save from the Ledbury keeper with a scorching late twenty yard strike.

Ross goalie, Ethan Lerego, will certainly have busier afternoons, which started with another away trip on Sunday, September 15th to Lads Club where the games have always been close and competitive.
