EARLY in November, members of the Ross Juniors girls were able to spend a day with Tanya Oxtoby from the Bristol City Women’s team.

Ross Juniors were delighted that Tanya, who is so prominent in the women’s game, came to run another Half Term Coaching Clinic at the Ross Sports Centre.

A spokesperson for Ross Juniors said: “Tanya Oxtoby and her Bristol City Women’s team have started the WSL season brilliantly, the Vixens have gelled as a team and the plaudits have been coming in for excellent great team displays.”

At the workshop, there were two football sessions and a workshop over lunch where the girls were able to learn what it’s like to be a professional athlete, focusing on technique and tactics. The footballers spent the day with coaches and players with international experience and had education on football psychology, nutrition and lifestyle.

There was also an opportuity for a question and answer session, photos and autographs.

The camp is run by Tanya Oxtoby and is aimed at girl footballers looking to improve their game. The last camp saw Tanya joined by Nottingham Forest’s Sianna Bennett and Bristol City’s Flo Allen. The day is a mix of classroom sessions and practical workshops aimed at developing the young players with individual goals set at the beginning of the day.

It was a really unique opportunity for aspiring young female footballers to be coached by those at the top of the women’s game.
