Preparation for a second Ross Juniors U9 team continued last Saturday, January 25th as they hosted Ledbury Rovers at Ross Sports Centre.

Ross got off to a great start with Ben’s defence splitting pass setting up the opening goal for Bobby but Ledbury responded well and equalised soon after. Bobby went close to restoring the Ross lead after playing a smart one-two with Jasper and so too did Harry after Ben set him up. Ledbury had a great chance to take the lead but Corey made a vital clearance and Morgan pulled off a great double save in the Ross goal before Harry had his shot saved by the Ledbury keeper. Mario made a good clearance in defence before Ross took the lead when Zachary set up Bobby’s second goal, and they almost added another when Zachary set up a chance for Jasper that struck the post.

Early in the second half, Jasper set up a chance for Josh before hitting the post himself (again). A great run from Jasper saw him through on goal but his shot was well saved and then Morgan tried his luck from distance. Ledbury looked like they were going to equalise again but Harry came off his line and made a great block.

That was Ledbury’s best, and final, clear cut chance in the game as Ross finished on the front foot. Bobby twice went close to completing a hat-trick, one with a great header from a corner, and Jasper had another shot saved.
