ROSS Juniors Ladies visited Belmont Wanderers in the Herefordshire Cup quarter-final and won 5-3 to make the semis for the second year running.
Played on Belmont’s newly laid 3G pitch, the first 20 minutes saw the hosts take the game to Ross and they could easily have gone 3-0 up instead of 0-0.
Then in virtually their first attack, Ross (sponsored by Ross Health And Fitness, Kings Accountancy Ltd and Scaffolding 2000 Ltd) scored with a sweeping move to open the scoring, only for Belmont to draw level with a great strike a minute later.
Ross then regained the lead on the half-hour mark with fine link up play, before six minutes later another great move saw Ross go 3-1 up.
But Belmont hit back on 41 minutes to make it 3-2 to the visitors at the break, and after the restart early pressure from the hosts saw a terrific volley fly in for 3-3.
The game was now very even, but Ross edged it with two brilliant goals midway through the half before managing the last 15 minutes to secure victory.
The Ross goal scorers were Hannah Jenkins and Danie Ward with braces and Nicola Wall with one.
Then on Sunday, the Herefordshire League leaders walloped Tenbury 15-0 at home, Hannah Jenkins and Jess Brain both scoring five, backed by a Ward hat-trick and goals from Maisie Tucker and Wall.
Meanwhile, Ross Juniors Women picked up an impressive 10–1 weekend win on the road at mid-table Inkberrow in the Mid West Counties League.
Lauren Creed scored a hat-trick, backed by two apiece from Mille Malsom and Macy Walker, and one each from Megan Boardman, Hollie Mace and Darcy Baker.
It was a ruthless performance, leaving them fifth, and a big confidence boost heading into Sunday’s (November 30) trip to table-topping Redditch, while the Ladies have a weekend off.
