ROSS Juniors Women went third in the Mid West Counties League with a hard-fought 1-1 midweek draw at champions Evesham United, and a 6-2 away win at Bromsgrove Sporting on Sunday.

A second-half equaliser from Abbie Fuszard secured the point beside the Avon.

And four days later, they delivered another outstanding away performance, Darcy Baker opening the scoring before Macy Walker added a second with a great finish.

Bromsgrove pulled one back just before the break, but Millie Malsom hit a quickfire double after the restart to put Juniors firmly in control.

Walker then grabbed her second, and Lily Irving rounded things off to restore the four-goal advantage after a consolation from the hosts.

Juniors next play Kempsey Phoenix at home this Sunday afternoon (May 10).

In men’s football, already safe Ruardean Hill suffered a 5-1 loss at Gloucestershire League champions Sharpness, Fin Jones with the goal.

Lydbrook trailed 2-0 at half-time, but won 3-2 away at Viney St Swithins in midweek thanks to a Finlay Morris brace and one from Aaron Powell.

And they followed that up with a 1-1 draw at home to third-placed Wickwar on Saturday, Morris again on target, leaving them seventh.

They could be joined next season by Huntley, who need a point from their final game at Soudley on Saturday (May 9) to leapfrog Blakeney to the North Gloucestershire Premier title and promotion, after winning 2-0 at home to third-placed Howle Hill on Saturday, Reuben Fishpool and Lee James the scorers.

NG 1 bottom side Ruardean Hill 2nds lost 3-1 at home to Mushet & Coalway 2nds, Alfie Reed with the consolation.

Lydbrook A won 8-0 away to Alvington 2nds in midweek thanks to a Jordan Young hat-trick, and Carl Stevens, Jamie Hosford, Toby Holden, Connor Emsley and Liam Chapman goals.

But the already promoted NG3 outfit saw their title hopes blown away 6-0 by leaders Ruardean Hill A on Saturday, who confirmed top spot through a Luke Johnson hat-trick, backed by Lee Johnson, Joshua Nelmes and Brian Burke strikes.
