The pitch at Edgar Street is ’good to go’, ready for tonight’s game against Fleetwood.

Hereford FC put out an urgent appeal on Tuesday for volunteers to help clear snow from their pitch so that their vital game against Fleetwood could go ahead on Thursday. The response was so amazing it even featured on BBC Sport.

The Club issued the urgent appeal through their Twitter account: “We need an army of volunteers throughout today to help remove snow from the pitch.”

And the fans turned up in large numbers.

The club later tweeted, “They say the Edgar Street crowd is our twelfth man. The snow clearers must surely be our thirteenth man. What a tremendous message to the players. Well done folks!"

On Tuesday morning the pitch was covered by 8-10cms of snow, supporters were asked to bring their own snow shovels and they did and cleared it all.

The pitch was then covered with a waterproof blanket which was pumped with hot air to ensure that the pitch is in perfect condition for tonight’s game. On Wednsday Hereford FC tweeted: "Thanks to our magnificant volunteers, tomorrow’s game is good to go!"
