In near perfect conditions Colts took the field hoping to build on last week’s 0-4 victory. The game started in an interesting fashion, the Frazer Forster-esk Orleston keeper (who was definitely their Man of the Match) collected a back pass and Colts had an indirect free kick from 1 yard out. Colt’s inexperience in this type of situation led to no advantage being gained but soon, after some great football, William put a strong shot just wide of the far post. The flowing, passing football led to a corner by Charlie which led to a cross from Chris, Charlie crossed the ball on the floor and William slotted the ball home.

The confident William was in the thick of the action straight after the kick off, robbing the Orleston defender, surging forward and putting the ball just wide. Colts were moving the ball around well and sustained attacking led to the Orleston keeper saving again from William. From the corner William hit the ball over. Charlie, was typically tenacious and Colts were having most of the possession and winning the midfield battle but at half way through the first half, Colts had only 1 goal to show for their efforts, as the three musketeers, Owen, Alfie and Alex, who all scored last week, came on for William, Chris and Charlie, who had all made good contributions.

Alex was soon involved with a long range effort which was saved and Alex made a storming run but his shot was saved as well. Alfie made a good turn and hit the post before he dribbled passed 4 players but Orleston put the ball out for a corner. Ed put the cross in and Owen finished at the back post. Owen was showing great skills, making lots of great runs, mainly on the left wing but Colts could not seem to add to their tally, thanks mainly to great goalkeeping from the Orleston keeper. The Colts were brimming with confidence, the midfielders were consistently attacking and winning the ball, and on the few occasions when Orleston did break, the back three, Callum, Ted and Captain Ed (playing a holding midfielders role) confidently cleared the ball upfield. Isaac in goal, was rarely troubled, but, when called upon, he did everything well.
