Ross Juniors U10 Colts took to the field on Saturday against Leominster Town Minors Colts, looking for their third win on the run following a good 1-0 Victory the previous week v Lads Club Harriers.
The game took place in perfect footballing conditions, and started evenly, with interceptions by Harry and Ewan at the back, keeping the ball away from the Colts goal.
Both teams had early chances but Leominster were the first to capitalise on one when a bobbling ball went forward and was cleared by Harry, but cannoned off the Leominster striker in to the goal.
Soon Leominster were attacking again, but Ewan intercepted a good ball forward, passing it to Ed, who passed to Alex and the ball went out for a corner. Ed put it in the corner, which Alfie just couldn’t connect with and Ed’s long shot was then saved. Alex then went down the left and crossed to Alfie, but the ball went out for another corner. From this corner Ed’s cross landed at the feet of Alex, who controlled the ball and calmly slotted the ball in to the Minors goal.

From the second half kick off, Ed passed to Alfie, who made a really good mazey run, but the ball went out for another corner. The second half then became very combative, with end to end football, but no clear chances, Harry and Ewan mopping up any attacks. Great wing play by Alex down the right led to another Colts corner, which was taken by Ed to Alfie, who just put it the wrong side of the post. Ed then threw in a good ball but Ben put the ball just wide.
Following a scramble in midfield, Alex went forward but Minors had a quick counter attack, leading to Isaac making a good save. Ed then passed to Alfie who showed great footwork on the right wing and put the ball across. The cross was well defended and landed at Edwards feet, who crossed to Ben but just couldn’t connect. The resulting corner was taken by William, who excellently crossed to Owen, who leapt like a salmon to head the ball home. Following the kick off, Owen showed some silky skills and combined with Callum to shoot towards the goal, but this time the net was not found.
Following competitive midfield play, the ball squirmed forward to the Minors forward, but the excellent Isaac dived at the feet of the attacker to save. A goalmouth scramble led to Isaac making a point blank save and Callum scrambled the ball away. William then put in a cross onto Alfie’s head, but the ball didn’t find the net. The final whistle was then blown.
It was a excellent team display by Colts, with everyone playing their part in a very enjoyable game.
