Ross Juniors U12s put the disappointment of their semi-final cup exit behind them as they welcomed the unbeaten league leaders Pegasus Juniors to the Sports Centre on Sunday, April 22nd.
The home side were expecting a tough match and knew that only a solid defensive performance would give them any chance of getting a positive result.
Pegasus were denied an early goal by a smart save from Roo and then Bill and Lennon made vital tackles as the visitors piled on the pressure. Despite their dominance, Pegasus only threatened once more before the break but could not get the better of the home side’s keeper. The only chance in the first half for the home side was a long range effort from JT.
It was more of the same after the break. Pegasus must have thought they were going to break the deadlock as a bad bounce eluded Roo as he came out to clear but the Pegasus striker saw his shot blocked on the line by Lennon. As time went on, the visitors were reduced to desperate long range efforts which either missed the target or were comfortably dealt with by Roo. Ross had a great chance to take the lead with 10 minutes to go as Ollie robbed a defender of the ball, but his shot was well saved. With minutes remaining, Roo pulled off a fantastic save to secure his side a well-earned point.
The final score was Ross Juniors U12s 0 - 0 Pegasus Juniors U12s.
All the boys worked so hard and defended brilliantly. The Saltrock Scaffolding ‘Man of the Match’ award was shared between Roo, with two great saves and Lennon with excellent defending and the vital goal-line block.
