With no subs available, seven Ross Juniors U10 players kicked off on a cold Saturday, away to Bromyard last weekend.

After a cagey first few minutes, it wasn’t long before Ross began to assert themselves - Luca opening the scoring on eight minutes.

Thomas, pushing up on the left wing, caused all kinds of trouble for the Bromyard defence. When he didn’t have the ball, his crunching tackles soon got the ball back.

Archie, with his usual energetic twists and turns, laid the ball back to Thomas who shot just wide. Archie was rewarded for his efforts shortly after, as he nutmegged the keeper to make it two.

Charlie scored the third, making it all seem quite perfunctory with his silky footwork in the Bromyard box.

The second half saw Zak move up on the wing with Thomas coming back to join Gabriel in defence. Gabriel broke down the Bromyard attacks and calmly passed the ball back up the channels. Charlie then got his second to make it four.

Bromyard began to turn up the pressure, forcing Isaac into a couple of neat saves on his debut. Luca took the ball, ran the full length of the pitch, and Archie left the through ball for Zak to make it five.

Charlie broke again, and Archie ran up in support to get the sixth from a lovely pass by Charlie.

Zak, constantly pressuring Bromyard, laid the ball to Archie for his hattrick and Ross’ seventh. The dying stages of the game saw Isaac make two sublime and instinctive one on one blocks to ensure Ross kept a clean sheet, winning 0-7 at the final whistle.
