Ross Juniors Ladies football team have been crowned champions of the inaugural Herefordshire FA Women’s Development League. A fantastic achievement by the team, which was rewarded with a convincing win of 5-0 over Belmont Ladies.
The game was played on a blistering hot day, but this did not stop the team being on the front foot and were relentless from the very start. Goal scorers were Danie Ward 2, Beth Coles, Carly Jacob and Louise Rowberry-Wall.
Player Michelle Kings commented: “It’s unbelievable to win the league, I’m still buzzing. And I’m so proud that Kings Accountancy Ltd is the kit sponsor as well.”
Jo Wall, who missed the last game through injury, added: “Gutted to miss the last game but I was cheering the team on to victory on the sidelines. The training we have as well is amazing and it has made me so much fitter.”
Jess Moroney, who also missed the game due to a broken wrist, added: “I was kicking every ball today watching the team. I would also like to say what a cracking bunch of team mates as well we have in the team.”
The team has gone from strength to strength over the last 12 months and to go through the whole season unbeaten is testament to the fitness and determination of the ladies. The team will be awarded the winners trophy sometime in the future.
Captain Nic Richardson-Wall summed up the day: “To lead the team as champions is personally one of my greatest sporting achievements. Everyone has given 100% and worked as a team to win the league. I can’t wait to get back to training.”
Anyone wishing to join the team is welcome and training is at the Sports Centre, Wilton at 6pm every Friday and will continue during the summer.
The team has a fantastic camaraderie and many social events, for further details please contact Nic Richardson-Wall on 07875 389354 or Jim Loftus on 07903 010475.
