Ross Junior Football Club’s U11s were back into league action on Saturday, playing hosts to a very good Tenbury side, and they couldn’t have made a worse start, conceding two goals in the first five minutes. The home side reduced the deficit when Sol was brought down in the penalty area and David successfully dispatched the penalty kick.

For the remainder of the half both teams cancelled each other out with the defenders getting the better of their opponents. Tenbury looked the more dangerous with the ball, passing and linking up well, and they went 3 – 1 ahead just before half time when Ross failed to clear a corner.

Ross were much improved in the 2nd half and early on Eddie was denied by the Tenbury keeper when through on goal before Jake scored from the penalty spot after Luca was brought down by the Tenbury keeper. Again the defences dominated and there was some excellent tackling with JT in particular making a number of excellent sliding tackles to protect the home side’s goal. Roo made a good save look easy and was sweeping excellently behind the Ross defence. Ross threatened the Tenbury goal a few times late on with Jake and Niall making good progress down the flanks but the Ross forward line couldn’t get on the end of them.
