THE U10 girls lined up to play Lads Club Vixens in the County Final. The Ross girls finished the season with 14 wins out of 14 and won the County Futsal Cup, the Vixens have only lost games to Ross this year and have swept all other opponents aside. The County Final was the perfect opportunity for the Vixens to finally beat Ross and get reward for a fine season. However, the game finished 2-0 to Ross, but credit must go to the Vixens for pushing all season.

The start was tense with little passing from either side. Ross battled in the middle and several times Amy tested the Vixen’s goalie from a distance. Amelie was everywhere in midfield, ably supported by Scarlett, Cara, Ruby and Gracie, in what was becoming a real battle between two evenly matched teams. The half finished at 0-0.

The second half was very similar until a moment of inspiration from Bel and a beautiful 20 yard chipped finish gave Ross the lead. A second quickly followed, with Bel again finishing well, following good build up play.

The Vixens never gave up and came very close to pulling one back at the end. The Ross defence of Izzy, Violet and Hazel were immense throughout.

In all their fixtures this season the girls have scored over 200 goals and conceded just one. This final was the hardest game of the season by far for Ross who were missing three key players in Eva, Meghan and Alicia from the squad.

The defence really came into its own in this final and were ably supported by the immense Hannah in goal. The final score was 2-0 to Ross.

The Ross girls now have a comprehensive programme of tournaments going to London, Bristol and Holland as well as many much closer to home. The team are looking for more players for next season, you have to be in year 5 currently. Training is on Monday 7-8pm at Ross Sports Centre.
