Ross 2nds were in superb form on Saturday, January 21st, winning away to top of the league opponents, Tewkesbury 2nds.

Tewkesbury started the better, capitalising on a handling error to score in the corner. Ross bounced back with centre, Thai Hayward, breaking through on the blind side to score, with scrum half, Craig Powell converting.

Winger, TC Leach, scored Ross’ next try, breaking through tackles to touch down.

Ross were reduced to 14 players when No 8 Josh Element was sent to the bin, but this didn’t deter Ross and a seven man scrum won the ball against the head and flanker Jake Christopher dived across the line. Thai Hayward converted.

Craig Powell darted his way through, under the posts and by this time it was all one way traffic. Ross capped an excellent first half with prop Dave Lawrence forcing himself over from 10 yards out.

The second half was a quieter affair with handling becoming more difficult in tacky conditions. Tewkesbury rallied and scored two tries but Ross still managed to score the try of the game when flanker, Dan Gould, raced down the centre of the field and his timely pass saw TC score his second try.

The Ross man of the match was Dave Lawrence. This week, Ross are away to Hucclecote 2nds in the league.
