Travelling to Wolverhampton to play title contenders Wulfrunians Ross Juniors suffered a heavy defeat, ending up on the wrong side of a five-nil score-line. Wulfrunians are a strong, fast side and it was credit to the Juniors’ defence that they held them at bay for the first 15 minutes. But the home team settled down and scored with a well-taken goal that split the Ross defence.

The Juniors tried hard to stay in the game and almost levelled when Elliott’s free kick was tipped over the bar. But Ross were under constant pressure and conceded twice more before half time, first from a corner and then from a penalty when a Wulfrunians’ striker was brought down in the box.

After the interval Ross came out refreshed and for 20 minutes played some excellent football, with defenders Freddie and Will stifling the home team’s attack while Luke and Owain were dangerous on the counter-attack. However, Ross couldn’t convert this into goals and Wulfrunians came back into the game to score two more to make the final score 5:0.

The boys shouldn’t be disheartened by Saturday’s result, they showed great endeavor throughout against a very good football team. The Juniors face another top club on Saturday morning when league leaders Coventry United visit Ross Sports Centre.
