Ross Juniors U12s bounced back from a couple of league losses, to hand a shock defeat to Lads Club Scorpions on Sunday.

The first chance of the match fell to the visitors, as Ollie fired in a shot that needed saving before Roo denied the home side a certain goal with a challenge just outside the penalty box. That was a let off for Ross but Scorpions soon took the lead with a great lob into the top corner.

Lads Club started to pile the pressure on their opponents but found Roo in fine form in the Ross goal. Scorpions looked certain to score a second goal, but for a super tackle by JT.

The home side eventually added a second goal following a melee in the Ross goalmouth, but Ross hit back before the break, when Jake played a great ball over the home side’s defence and Jayden opened his account for the season with a stinging shot from the edge of the area.

The second half was like an arm wrestle with both teams attacking, but the defences were solid and there weren’t many clear cut chances for either team.

With five minutes to go, Jayden released Ollie with a great pass and Ollie made no mistake to bring the scores level. This sparked the home side into life and they put a lot of pressure on the Ross defence, however the visitor’s defence was superb and stood firm.

As the match entered the final minute, a poor clearance from the opposition’s keeper fell nicely to Ollie and he hit a 25 yard lob into the Scorpion’s unguarded goal to snatch a dramatic win, 3 - 2.

The whole team were superb throughout the match but two players stood out and share the Saltrock Scaffolding ‘Man of the Match’ award, Jake Talbot for superb defending and Ollie Phillips for hard work in midfield on top of his two well-taken goals.
