HEREFORD FC’s Women’s team beat Albrighton Ladies 5-1 at Old School Lane recently.

Top scorer Roxana Dinescu netted two more within the opening 15 minutes of the Midwest Counties Female Football League match.

First, she took control of a defensive error inside two minutes to slot the ball home at the second attempt.

Katie Barr then converted Lauren Brown’s free kick to add a second before Dinescu rifled a shot across goal into the top left corner that left the keeper with no chance and the Bulls three up inside the opening quarter of an hour.

The visitors earned several corners through the half, but they were well defended with goalkeeper Sarah Reed, returning from a long injury layoff, having few shots to deal with thanks to her vigilant defence, with recent arrival Jemma Parfitt forming a quick understanding with fellow centre half Nicole Sullivan, and full backs Brown and Sian Lewis working hard.

However the visitors were gifted a goal at the end of the first half when a flailing arm hit the ball and the referee had no choice but to give a soft penalty.

The home side started the second half with another goal. Evie Jones put in good work down the right side to set up Jess Kenny, who drilled the ball into the net for her sixth goal of the season.

With Megan Holman again busy in midfield, and Sophie Elcox-Bond picking out the forwards, a fifth was added midway through the half when the visiting defender powered a header into her own net under pressure from Tasha Jones.
