Ross Juniors Colts U15s made the short journey to Ledbury to play Ledbury Swifts U15s. After a two week break for half term the boys were raring to go.
It was a blustery afternoon, but luckily, the rain stayed away until the end of the match. The boys played up the slope and into the wind in the first half. It was important that they played the ball on the ground and this is exactly what they did, the midfield of Liam, Matt, Elliott and Wilf combined well with Jack and Erny up front creating plenty of chances, they found the Swift’s keeper in good form, making some very good saves.
It was only a matter of time though, before Ross had the brealthrough they deserved, with Erny finding the net. Ross continued to play some great passing football and went on to score another couple of goals through Jack and Tommy. Huw came on for Erny and had a good spell up front, coming close on several occasions.
The defence of Charlie, Felix, Dan and Tommy soaked up everything that was thrown at them and to be fair, Marcus in goal had very little to do. Manager Tony made some changes at half time to make sure everybody had game time. Lewis, Pirlo and James went on and played good football. On one rare occasion, the Ledbury front man raced through and beat advancing keeper Marcus with a well placed shot. Just after that another Ledbury player went forward into the box, Dan came across and made a fantastic challenge, taking the ball cleanly, to everyone’s amazement, the ref awarded a penalty. It was a terrible decision that resulted in Ledbury scoring to make it 3-2 to Ross. From then on, Ross made attack after attack and went on to the win the game 6-2, with goals coming from Matt, Jack and Erny.
This was a great performance, the boys are really gelling as a team, there are good things ahead for them.
Special mention to Matt Mcleod, who is playing for the UITC Hereford U15s this season and was rewarded for his efforts by being named as player of the month for October, good work Matt.
