ROSS Juniors’ 1st XI got back to winning ways with a five-goal demolition without reply of hosts Tenbury Town.

It was high-fives all round following three straight losses, with Juniors leading 1-0 at the break before cutting loose and adding another four goals, Paul Wooding firing a brace, and David Taylor, Niall Powell and Florin Crainic one apiece.

The 5-0 result sees Juniors leapfrog Kington 2nds, who drew 2-2 at Burghill Rangers, to fourth in Herefordshire League One, nine points behind new leaders Worcester United with a game in hand.

Local rivals Fownhope didn’t play and are now second eight points above Juniors having played two games more.

Juniors Colts were in FJ Pope Cup action, but the high-five was reserved for hosts Lydney Town B who ran out 5-2 winners, Luke Darwin and Jack Stalley firing the consolations.

Fownhope 2nds were on the right side of the same score at home to basement boys Dore Valley in Division Two, a result which lifts them to third.

Newent Town 2nds fell to another defeat though, losing 4-1 at home to Evesham Development, Ross Allard with a second half header grabbing their consolation as they stay second to bottom of Hellenic League Division 2 West.

Ruardean Hill Rangers slipped to two off the relegation zone in the Gloucestershire County League, albeit with an 11-point buffer, after a narrow 2-1 home loss to high-flying Sharpness Sharks.

The visitors went in front after 15 minutes, Alex Higgs breaking down the right past three Rangers players before unleashing a tremendous shot that was deflected into the net by a defender.

And they doubled the score 13 minutes later when Higgs out-jumped Aaron Underwood in the home goal to head home from a corner.

Underwood made amends just before half-time with a great save off Brad Thomas, and Ruardean had a great chance to pull one back but Luke Johnson pulled his shot wide.

Rangers finally got on the score sheet in the 75th minute when Sharpness gave away a penalty for handball, Steve Clark firing home from the spot, but the Sharks sat back and soaked up the pressure to take the win.

PexelsLydbrook Athletic had that sinking feeling as they lost out 2-0 at Leonard Stanley to drop to the bottom of Gloucestershire Northern League Division Two, with Frampton 2nds leapfrogging them thanks to a 2-0 win over Winchcombe Town.

Staunton & Corse moved up to 10th though with a 4-2 win away to Broadwell Amateurs 2nds, Ben Troughton firing a brace, and Toby Summers and Liam James one apiece.

Howle Hill lost out 2-1 at home to Redbrook Rovers in the North Gloucestershire Premier League basement battle, Craig Davies scoring the consolation.

And Ruardean Hill Rangers 2nds were hit for six without scoring at division leaders Mushet & Coalway.

The Division One table top clash between Mitcheldean and hosts Soudley couldn’t have been more one-sided, as the visitors hit a magnificent seven without reply to close the gap in third to a point.

Staunton & Corse 2nds lost 2-0 at home to Tidenham in a mid-table battle, while Lydbrook 2nds crashed 6-1 at home to Soudley 2nds in the George Sandoe Cup, their sole goal coming from Jamie Jenkins.

The Athletic’s A side was on fire in Division 3, though, David Fennell scoring a hat-trick in a 5-0 win away to Mitcheldean 2nds, with Liam Davies and James Blackwell also on target for the second-placed side.
