Once again the Forest of Dean Gymnastics Club put in a brilliant performance, competing at the Gloucestershire Novice Championships.
11 girls competed in the competition and they were awarded five medals and 11 top places. All the girls looked confident and polished, especially on floor, and 8 year old Molly Hughes achieved the highest overall score of the day and the highest floor score.
The Club started off well with three girls in the Novice 2 age 9 group. Molly Hughes won the floor scoring 12.07 for her cheeky routine to ’Hit the Road Jack’.
Anastasia Shaporto vaulted brilliantly to come second, and also won the bronze medal. Lily Bridges came 7th overall.
In the Novice 2 age 10 years, Mya Woodward won the vault and came 8th overall in this large group of 17 gymnasts. Daisy Middleton came second on floor and 6th overall, with Ella Robinson 9th overall.
The club’s Intermediate gymnasts also performed confident routines despite this being their first competition outside the Club.
At Novice 2 age 13 years, Millie Eaton took top place and the gold medal. She confidently won the floor and came third on vault. Leilah Morgan followed Millie onto the podium with a bronze medal overall and third place on floor. Both performed extremely expressive routines.
Isabelle Moger came third on vault and 5th overall in the age 11 group and finished in 5th place.
Another medal followed in the age 12 competition when Isabelle Beard won the bronze overall and placed third on floor. Ebony Baldwin took third place on vault.
The day was long but successful, with the Forest Club hosting the event for the county.
