THE Forest of Dean Motor Club celebrated its 50th anniversary in July this year.

After discussing on how to celebrate this landmark, the Motor Club will look to organise a celebration dinner in late January 2018 at Forest Hills, if enough people show an interest in attending.

It will be open to everyone who has been connected with the club over the 50 year period, and it is hoped to have a display of memorabilia of club members in action down the years, and a few short films, along with a guest speaker.

A club spokesman said: “It is a great opportunity for members, old and new, to come together and relive memories. To see old friends from whatever era they were club members, and help celebrate 50 years of the Motor Club.

“When you look back, the club helped other motor clubs run stages in the Forest of Dean and elsewhere, long before the Wyedean.

“It ran some of the best autocross events in the country for many years, as well as also organising road rallies in the seventies and producing many national champions in various disciplines.

“Two years ago we celebrated the 40th birthday of Wyedean with a dinner, attended by 225 people, on what turned out to be a fabulous night. So let us get together and celebrate 50 years of this well respected motor club."
