On Saturday, 9th December, despite frosty conditions and freezing temperatures preventing many tennis matches throughout the county from happening, Goodrich ’C’ team were able to play on their sand dressed textured courts, against MCS ’B’ ladies.

The first pair of Rachael Wintle and Kirsten Mathews, set off quickly against their opposite numbers and won in straight sets 6-3, 6-3, and the second pair, Kim Martin and Carolyn Riddell, also produced a fine 6-4, 6-0 win. In the second round, Rachael and Kirsten made short work of their opposition with a 6-1, 6-0 victory and quickly retired to the relative warmth of the club house for a brew. Kim and Carolyn took a good bit longer in their second rubber, but finally got the job done winning 7-6, 6-2. Taking all 10 points available puts the ’C’ team at the top of H & W Division 6 for Christmas. Well done ladies.
