With no local girls league Ross Girls have been competing against boys this season and have been gaining admirers for their effort, persistance and the improving quality of their cricket.

Following the girls' best all-round performance of the season against Newent, which saw them narrowly defeated, a beautiful, sunny Tuesday evening (4th June), finally saw the girls rewarded for their efforts.

The younger of the two Ross Girls' teams travelled to Apperley CC in their latest fixture in the U11 boys Leadon Vale League.

Playing a pairs format, Apperley batted first and their opening bat, Olivia Pike, notched up a fine net score of 22. The only other batsman to do any damage was the Apperley number 7, Hollie Ennis (8*).Apperley posted 288 for 6 off their allotted 20 overs. For Ross, Chloe Tingle, Elysia Cotton, Alice Wilson and Isla Kendall all picked up a wicket, with Anna Ricks claiming 2-21.

In reply. Ross scored steadily with skipper, Anna Ricks adding (18*) and Elysia Cotton (13*) to see Ross post a very respectable 292 for 3 off their 20 overs.

Accurate bowling from the Apperley opener, Olivia Pike (3-1-8-0) helped to restrict Ross, with Joel Ennis (3-0-13-1), Storm Barlow (2-0-9-1) and Hollie Ennis (2-0-8-1) contributing well too.
