Circumstances and the glorious weather could not have fallen more suitably for Ross Golf Club's Captain Phil Wilson and the timing of his Annual Captain's Day event. Phil's day was dedicated to a farewell party for Club Caterers, Karen and Ian Needham, to celebrate their 4 years of catering excellence, during which time they have both played an integral part in Ross Golf Club's overall progress and development. Karen and Ian received warmest wishes from all sections with their popularity clearly in evidence through the considerable support on the day from members, with 162 taking part in the event.
14 handicapper Justin Halfpenny enjoyed an occasion he will long remember with his round, including 10 pars and 3 birdies, and in playing 10 shots better than his handicap, his 46 stableford points total won him the main prize and a 3 shots handicap reduction. Runner up Steve Bartholomew was equally impressive with a round which also saw him amass 46 points and see his handicap reduced from 20 to 17. Julia Wilde, with 43 points, will have been delighted to have been the most effective lady performer and she was followed by other fine scores on the day including, Peter Landau, Dale Gribble and Linda Gaiderman with 40 points each. They were followed by Adrian Berry with 39 points, Martin Pimlow, Denise Laird, James Berry, Steve Wallbank and Katie Greenwood who all scored 38 points.
