The South Herefordshire Seniors Captain’s day, postponed because of adverse weather conditions, had 49 participants in a fun Stableford competition. Players were able to purchase a maximum of two ‘gimmes’ and two ‘mulligans’ to be used during the round.
This ‘fun’ element was well received and the day was a tremendous success. Almost £500 was raised for the Captain’s charity - Ross - Community First Responders. The results were are follows: Division 1 (0-16) 1st Laurie Cork 42pts, 2nd Peter Chapman 42pts. Division 2 (17-20) 1st Steve Broderick 40pts, 2nd John Tecke 40pts. Division 3 21+ Mike Bourne 40pts, Ray Causon 38pts. Veterans (over 75) 1st Tony Haile 40pts, 2nd Rene Eichorn 36pts.
Nearest the pin on the 7th - Tony Haile and Peter Chapman won nearest the pin with the second shot on the 18th. Nearest the line on the 5th was won by Paul Franks. Tony Haile and Richard Hammett shared the money for the twos.
The seniors, having been white washed by Bransford last week, turned the tables at home with a 3.5 to 2.5 victory. There were wins for Pete Sawyer & Tony Haile 2&1, Martin Thompson & Ashley Letts 3&1 and Mike Bishop & Steve Mills. Roger Barnes & Brian Carver halved their match. Fred Cook & Roy Pipe lost 6&5 and Mike Bain & John Wynne lost 3&2.
