South Herefordshire Golf Club held their annual Joe Woolley memorial invitational recently, in memory of former greenkeeper and club member, Joe Woolley.
12 teams of players from clubs near and far entered as teams of four for this mixed event, which was held in excellent weather conditions on a course that was set with some extremely tricky pin positions.
There were several prizes to go for during the course of the day including longest drive, nearest the pin and nearest the pin in two. As well as those, two trophies were also up for grabs. The Joe Woolley Team Shield, and the Joe Woolley Memorial Cup.
It was also a day where the club’s new president, Brian Bishop carried out the first of his official duties in the presentation ceremony at the end of the competition. The winners of the Joe Woolley Team Shield, with a team score of 119 points, are pictured above, with Brian presenting them with their shield. The winner of the individual prize and the Joe Woolley Memorial Cup with 41 points was Richard Hoare.
SHGC would like to thank all players who entered the competition making it a very successful day. They are also looking forward to welcoming everyone back to their next open event which is the Mixed Open, being held on Sunday, August 28th 2016. Entry forms are available for download from the club website, and also from the club house.
