In first class conditions Laurie Cork, with 41pts, was the convincing winner of the Gary Martin memorial trophy stableford competition, which 54 South Herefordshire Seniors entered. Geoff Eyres, with 38pts, was in second place while John Wynn, with the same score, was third.

The team event was won by Martin Latham, Keith Nind and Mike Bourne with 90pts; John Duvall, John Wynne & Richard Hoare were runners up with 86pts.

The longest straight drive was won by Brian Donald and nearest the pin was Paul Franks. Following the lunch Gary’s widow, Ruth, presented the prizes and thanked the members for their support in ensuring such a successful day.

The seniors team beat Leominster in their return match 5-2 thus reversing the away loss of 2.5-4.5. The result ensured South Herefordshire reclaimed the Captain’s challenge trophy 7.5-6.5.
