Ross-on-Wye Golf Club’s Annual Juniors Singles Open attracted 26 accomplished young golfers from across neighbouring counties and, as could be expected, players from the home club featured prominently.

Niall Powell, 18, now sporting a 3 handicap, capped an exceptional year by being the best gross performer of the day. With a 73, which included 3 birdies and a back 9 holes scored at 2 under gross par. He will have enjoyed too the fact that one of his birdies took place at the courses’ most difficult hole, this being the 14th stroke index one par 4.

In second place, with a gross 79, was 15-year-old Cam Haines, who 12 months ago was playing off a handicap of 15 and has remarkably reduced it to 4. At the Club’s Annual Trophy Presentation evening Cam deservedly received the ‘Most Improved Player of 2015’ award.
