South Herefordshire’s Seniors’ Captain’s day was a tremendous success, and attracted an entry of 62 members.

The main event, a three ball stableford competition was won by Phil Andrews, Eifion Rees and Ian Corbitt with a score of 87pts. The runners up with a score of 83pts were Peter Sawyer, Mike Bourne and Jim Delahay.

Individual prizes were presented to the following:

Division 1:

• Winner - Mike Proctor with 43pts, runner up Peter Sawyer on 41pts.

Division 2:

• Winner - Richard Hammett 44pts and the runner up Keith Nind with 43pts.

• Nearest the pin on the 7th hole - Peter Atkins.

• Nearest the pin with the second shot on the 18th - Bill Mullan.

There were two competitors successful in the "twos" competition - Peter Atkins and Phil Bundy.

At the end of the round there was an excellent buffet provided and past members joined in the celebrations. The catering, bar and ground staff did the seniors proud.

The course was in first class order and fortunately the weather was very kind which helped to make it a memorable day’s golf. They are grateful also to the proprietors for their co-operation and contribution to the success of the day.

The event raised almost £600 for Sheppard House, the Captain’s charity.
