ROSS?golfer, Kate Bibby, took on the world’s best last week as she headed to America to play in the Junior World Championships.

Kate, 11, played at Pinehurst in North Carolina, which has hosted the Ryder Cup and US?Open in the past. Competing in the girls 11 and under division, Kate scored 87, 84 and 83, which saw her finish 63rd out of 120 participants.

Kate told the Ross Gazette: “Overall, it has been a great summer of golf, even though I have had some tough tournaments all the work with Tim (Hall) and Oli (Leet) is starting to bed in and good things are happening.

“Also, it has been brilliant at Ross Golf Club with so many of the members taking such an interest in me and all of their support has been fantastic.”

With the temperatures in the mid-thirties at Pinehurst, the course was hard and the greens played very quickly.
