The new Lady Captain, Mary Smith, was given a warm welcome at Ross Golf Club by more than 40 ladies on Tuesday, November 12th, who after a welcome glass of sherry, joined her on the first tee to see her drive off in the Lady Captain’s Drive In.

Although the day started in sunshine showcasing the beautiful autumn colours around the course, it wasn’t long before a steady cold drizzle set in and everyone was glad to finish after nine holes. A delicious warming soup and roll lunch was enjoyed by everyone.

Mary is married with two teenage sons and is a part time maths teacher and pig breeder. She started playing golf in the Oman seven years ago and currently has a very respectable handicap of 17. See the full story in this week’s edition of the Ross Gazette, or subscribe to our online edition here
