Ross-on-Wye garage owner Steve Bennett continued his recent good form with a fine third overall finish in last weekend’s Rallynuts Severn Valley Historic Stages.

Together with new co-driver Osian Owen in the Bennett Tyres, Dave Jenkins Motorsport Escort RS1800, the pair had a trouble free run with consistent stage times all day.

Paul Willetts, Rally correspondent, told the Ross Gazette: “The latest round of the Mintex MSA British Historic Championship, HRCR Stage Masters and Welsh Historic series. 44 miles were on offer in the classic Welsh forests of Crychan Cefn and Radnor from its base at the Royal Welsh Showground at Builth Wells.”

Just behind Bennett, and winning their class yet again were Ben Friend and Cliff Simmons in the Allglass Escort RS1800 finishing 6th overall. “We lose so much time on the fast uphill sections to the boys with BDAs but another good result,” said Friend.
