Local racing drivers, brothers, Toby and Ben Davis from Much Marcle, came away with impressive results at the recent Castle Combe round of the MSA British Superkart Championship.

Ben, 20, had the better start to proceedings as he took second place on the grid to Toby's, 21, fifth in qualifying. However, in race one it was Toby who had the jump on everyone and dived up the inside at turn 1 to take the lead. By lap four, Toby was still leading. Ben was battling with former champion James O'Reilly. O'Reilly would get the better of Toby whilst Ben was settling for fourth as the brothers started to suffer with front tyre wear, and increasing understeer.

The different tyres and temperatures on race day were playing havoc with the setup the brothers had developed over the winter.

Toby dropped behind his brother a couple of laps later, leaving Ben in third. On the final lap Toby made a move around the outside of the Old Paddock Bend, at over 100mph and finished race one in fifth. In race two Toby had another great start and leapt to second place, whilst Ben moved up into 4th place. After a restart following a red flag, Sam Moss and Toby had a battle for a few laps which involved Moss bump-drafting Davis, whilst Ben was slowly making progress. Ben moved up past Toby a couple of laps from the end to take 5th place, leaving the brothers to finish in 5th and 6th.

Ben took the prize for 3rd overall in the event, and the fact that Toby led for some time in race 1 and Ben qualified on the front row leaves the brothers optimistic for the remainder of the season - particularly as they are yet to optimise their setup.

You can see the brothers racing at Silverstone on June 8th/9th. They are looking to partner a company going forward and can offer excellent opportunities, so anyone interested in supporting the two local racers please contact Ben Davis 07974305798 or Richard Davis on 07766 134680.
