Goodrich ‘A’ttitudes hosted Manor Park C, in cold but dry, thankfully, conditions on Sunday, December 1st. Goodrich first pair, Cheryl Mordecai and Steph Howell, got straight into top gear and quickly saw off the Manor Park first pair, with a 6-0 / 6-0 win.

Meanwhile second pair, Cath Hutchinson and Kim Martin, won their first set 6-2, but a tighter second set proved to be quite a long battle with games going to deuce each time. Some grit and determination, and plenty of support from the hardy supporters, saw them through to eventually win it, 7-5.

So going into the second round of rubbers with Goodrich 2-0 up, the weather getting colder and the sun dipping lower, Manor Park were up against it! This time the Goodrich first pair took a few games to get used to the change of court and warm up again, but after stuttering to 3-3 in the first set, dropped no further games and took the match 6-3 / 6-0. Cath and Kim, now taking on the Manor Park first pairing, battled out the first set and took it on a tie break, and performed well in the second to win it 6-4.

Once again a fine win for the Goodrich ‘A’ttitudes, who are still unbeaten so far this season in Division 3 West of the H & W Winter league. Their next match will be on Sunday, January 12th, when they will travel to Worcester to play David Lloyd Worcester ‘A’, presently top of the league.
