Following on from their penultimate match on the 27th June, when the Goodrich ‘C’hasers beat Wellington by 4 rubbers to 0, dropping just one set on the way, and securing promotion to Division 5 next Summer, the challenge now was to keep a clean sheet.  Their final match, on 11th July at Goodrich, was against Ledbury ‘C’, and inspired by Wimbledon the ‘C’hasers played with confidence and accuracy.

First pair, Kayla and Carolyn, won their first rubber comfortably, taking it 6-3 / 6-2.  Special mention to Carolyn who was fleet of foot in her stylish new footwear.  Meanwhile second pair, Karen Hawley and Ros Wadsworth, playing with their usual determination, won their first rubber, 6-0 / 6-2.

Following a break for some liquid refreshment and encouragement from the band of loyal supporters, the match continued with Kayla and Carolyn, picking up from where they had left off, dropped just one game in the second rubber, registering a 6-0 / 6-1 win.  Karen and Ros had a tougher task on their hands against the Ledbury first pair, but managed to take the first set 6-4.  However the Ledbury ladies were not going quietly, with the second set going with serve to 6-6 and a tie-break, which Karen and Ros were all smiles when they won it.  The ‘C’hasers won all of their 6 league matches and picked up 56 points from a possible 60, with the four ladies finishing top of the player statistics table for Division 6 West of the H & W Summer League - quite an achievement.
