Goodrich ’A’ttitudes travelled the short distance to Ross, on Sunday, May 20th, to take on their ’A’ team, on a very warm and sunny afternoon. Ross, having coming down from Division 2 to Division 3 last Summer, are looking to bounce straight back up, and proved to be too strong for Goodrich.

All the games were highly contested, and it was down to Stephanie Howell and Wendy Jenkins, playing at second pair, to pick up two vital points for Goodrich in their first rubber against Ross third pair, Heather Peachey and Sandy Foulkes, winning in straight sets, 6-1/7-5. Goodrich third pair, Jill Brown and Kirsten Mathews, were unlucky not to win their second rubber, going to a third set tie-break, but Sandy, playing with grit and determination, made sure the points went to Ross.

’A’ttitudes first pair, Cath Hutchinson and Rachael Wintle enjoyed the challenge of playing against the Ross first pair, Val Davies and Jane Pepperell, followed by second pair Sarah Drake and Gaynor Raine. They are now fired up for their next match which is on Saturday, May 26th at Goodrich against Halesowen.
