George Gillings, Jacob Tipper and Henry Lafford became the latest in a long line of County Champions from the Forest of Dean Gymnastics Club when they competed at the Gloucestershire County Apparatus Championships which was held at the Forest of Dean Gymnastics Centre last Sunday. The Club achieved a total of 12 overall medals.

The competition encompassed both the County Championships for Gloucestershire Clubs and a Men’s Open Apparatus competition with invited ‘out of county’ clubs from Swindon and West Wilts.

Five Forest boys competed in the under 9 Floor & Vault competition. Jacob Tipper won a well deserved gold in the overall competition and gold in the County Championships to become County U9 Floor & Vault Champion.

Archie Weyman won silver in the County Championships and bronze in the open competition while Zach Pegler won County bronze. Ethan Duberley came 4th in the County and Luke Hobson 5th.

In the under 11 Floor & Vault competition George Gillings won gold by a clear margin in both the County Championships and the open competition. He had an excellent competition all round. Adrian Papcun won the County silver.

In the six piece, age 12+ competition Zac Nikoukar came 3rd on parallel bars and rings and placed 2nd overall to win the County silver medal. Seth Harness also competing in this group just missed a medal by coming 4th.

In the Junior, age 12+ 6 piece competition Henry Lafford won vault, parallel bars, pommel, high bar and rings leading him to resoundingly win both the overall Gold in both the Open competition and the County Championships, the Clubs 3rd 2019 County Champion of the Championships.

The Forest of Dean Club’s coaches were pleased with the boys’ performance against strong opposition. The clubs competing were Cotswold, the Gym Centre Gloucester, Forest of Dean, Swindon and West Wilts.
