Watching the nail biting finish to a neck and neck race is what keeps many people hooked on racing. For local owners Celia and Michael Baker, the heartstopping moment when their two horses took first and second place at Warwick recently was the most exciting of their career as owners so far.

Bobo Mac, who they own jointly with Karen Ibberson and Henry Pearman, was closely followed by Frankly Speaking, who they own with David Jenks, who bred him, at the meeting on April 26th. Both horses are pictured right with trainer Tom Symonds.

Michael told the Gazette they were in the trainers’ enclosure cheering them both on and could hear the other trainers and owners laughing as they just did not know which one to cheer for.

To add to the excitement, a third horse, also trained by Tom Symonds, Kaka De La Pree came fifth in the three mile handicap hurdle.

Celia and Michael told the Ross Gazette that it was incredible, a very memorable day, and the best part was that they all returned home safe and well.

Frank has never won before and Bobo Mac has not had a brilliant season, although Tom was convinced he would win.
