Lycetts, one of the UK’s leading equine and bloodstock insurance brokers, has welcomed a young conditional jockey and a Royal Artillery Gold Cup winner to its sponsorship stable.

Charlie Deutsch and Guy Disney join with three-year deals as part of Lycetts’ long-term support of the racing industry.

Riding for Venetia Williams, 22-year-old Deutsch is in his sixth season and is considered one of the sport’s rising stars, having more than 60 winners over fences to his name.

“Lycetts has been a long-term supporter of racing at all levels and has a great reputation within the racing world,” said Deutsch.

“Many of its staff live and breathe racing like I do and I am delighted to be associated with them. I hope to be able to reward their confidence in my ability.”

“We are very pleased to lend our name to one of jump racing’s emerging band of talented riders,” said William McCarter, Rural Divisional Director at Lycetts.

“Charlie’s career is taking off and if we can accelerate that progress, we will have played a small role in nurturing some young and raw talent in the sport.”

Meanwhile, Disney – who lost his leg serving in Afghanistan – was the first amputee jockey to win a professional race in the UK at the Royal Artillery Gold Cup at Sandown.
