Despite the bad weather more than 120 people turned out to do their bit for Sport Relief on Sunday when they took part in the Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile in Ross-on-Wye. 'Milers' of all ages were sponsored to do one, three or six miles around the pitches at Ross Sports Centre.

It was great to see friends and families across the age groups all joining together. Kate and Jack from Wye-Fit organised a welcome warm-up before the start. A tiny tot who was dressed in a red Sport Relief onesie was drafted in to cut the tape and start the race. Notable fancy dress entries came from 118 and 118 and a bunch of crazy canoers who brought their own brand of light relief to the event. And of course the stars of the event were the wonderful people of Ross who braved tough conditions with a bitter wind blowing, a sharp hailstorm and heavy downpour. Full report in this week's Gazette.
