Ross Junior Academy sculler Gabby Howell followed in her father's footsteps by winning a junior sculling event at Stourport Regatta. It was 30 years to the day after Ian Howell, now the Club President, won Junior sculls in 1983 at the age of 16. Gabby has beaten her Dad to that honour by four years being only 12! Gabby also won in her quad boat and her sister also won, coxing the boys J15 quad.

Ian said: "It is great to see how much the Club has progressed in the 30 years since I first won at Stourport. In those days the Club would have been lucky to win 7 events a year. Now we have the skills and equipment to do it in a weekend."

The weekend was full of family connections with wins for both Sarah Sykes and daughter Elsa Sykes, Matt Crilly and his sister Frankie, Dale Kernot and his sister Harley. There were several other families competing, including Alison Barker and her daughter Anna, Sharon Finch and her daughter Catherine. Club Chairman Graham Watling said: "This really does emphasise what a great family club we are".

On Saturday the only winning crew were Henry Jones and Nick Burden who dominated their J16 double sculls event. The mens, ladies and juniors squad crews competed through to many finals however they found the conditions and competition tough going over the 1100 meter course.
