Ross Juniors Sunday beat Welsh Club 3-0 to reach the semi final of the Premier Division cup. Despite still missing key players Ross had the luxury this week of being able to name three substitutes for this crucial cup game.
Ross started lively and the energetic Damon Beaumont cracked the cross bar from 14 yards in the fourth minute. Welsh Club almost took the lead in the ninth minute when they struck the post and fortunately for Ross they cleared the danger.
Both teams cancelled one another out as they both struggled on the sticky pitch and neither side showed any rhythm. The Ross back four of Adam Beaumont, Matt Davies, Carl Roberts and Rob McAfee worked overtime to ensure that stand in keeper Sam Loftus had a quiet morning.
With two minutes remaining before half time Ross played the best football of the half which was started by Andy Francis. The tricky winger used his pace to pick out Damon Beaumont on the edge of the box and played in the advancing midfielder Harry Hall who showed great composure and touch to finish well from 15 yards to tuck the ball into the corner of the net.
At half time Ross took stock and worked on their strong points. In the second half more chances immediately followed with Ted Loftus and Chris Davies going close.
It became 2-0 in the 66th minute when Damon Beaumont chased a through ball that was in no man's land. It was a race between him and the opposing keeper to see who would win the race. Bizarrely the goalie made an air shot and it left the deadly striker the easiest of chances to slot the ball into the empty net.
